Desert landscape

Deserts

Deserts have high temperatures during the day, low temperatures during the night and long periods of drought. In these conditions the growth of rich vegetation is not possible. In desert ecosystems you can find a few species of large vertebrate, such as antelope, many species of rodent living in holes in the ground, reptiles and various species of insects. In order to survive high temperatures and drought, the animals that live in deserts have developed a number of adaptations (reduced sweating, limited drinking, consumption of foods with a high-water content, avoidance of exposure to the sun and nocturnal activity etc.). Desert  landscapes can be found on all continents.
