The Wonderful World of Beetles

Coleoptera

The Museum contains a large collection of Coleoptera (beetles), which includes specimens from Greece and around the world. The Blecha Collection contains thousands of beautiful Coleoptera from across the globe. Some of the most remarkable are the Goliath beetles, which are amongst the largest insects in the world. The collection also contains vibrantly coloured jewel beetles from Eurasia and impressive rhinoceros beetles from around the world. From North Africa and Eurasia there are the huge long-horn beetles, with their long antennae. These are just some examples that show the great diversity of this most speciose of groups.
